This simulates the ink’s true opacity on
black. When the ink is on and off of a
white plate it simulates how an ink will
react. One note: If using a transparent
base such as Nova or Fashion Soft you
will want to drop the opacity rating down
to 15 percent.
3. Highlight each of the colors one at
a time (except the Highlight White), go
to “Levels” (command L) and slide your
Level point on the left of the window
graph to the right until it touches the first
dark line in the graph. This will ensure
the ink has at least one point of solid color
in the channel. Do not slide the channel
past the halfway mark. If the first noise
mark you see is past the halfway mark, ei-
ther stop at halfway and keep it, or check
to see if you need the color at all.
Once you have completed this routine,
turn on all channels and view. At this
time you are looking at an approximation of what the garment will look like
once it is printed. Now it is much easier
to select channels to increase or decrease
intensity with the curves feature, or in
some cases, change the ink pantone color completely.
These four tips won’t solve all press
problems, but they will get your art and
production in the same ballpark, allowing
higher rate of success on the final product. Pw
