Q: I’ve seen ads for imprinted flip flops for years but never tried to sell them to my customers. Is there a secret selling point for this product? A: Many people shy away from selling certain products because they don’t think they know enough about them. Flip flops are easy to pitch with a little information, such as the fact that several suppliers man- ufacture them and they come in various tyles, materials and colors. They can be imprinted on both sides of the soles and on the straps. When imprinted on the bot- tom of the sole, the person wearing them leaves an imprint behind when they walk in the sand. They are perfect sellers to ho- tels (amenity gifts), spas (thank yous), bars and restaurants (resale), and as fundraising items (money is important these days). To effectively sell them, order samples from the suppliers who offer them. You will be surprised at the favorable response you re- ceive when you show them to customers. Being a resource for creative and different products is an important part of increas- ing sales.
